THE SCIENTIFIC PRESS®

>PROTOCOL
The publication process involves the following protocol. For practical reasons, authors submit manuscripts directly to the Executive Director, who distributes them to the Associate Editors.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
  • manages day-to-day operations & production;
  • works on logistics with the Authors and the Section Editors wherever applies;
  • receives articles and distributes them to the Section Editors;
  • may write a general introduction/ editorial to the volume;
  • may recommend a dedication of the volume;
  • in conjunction with the proofreaders, proofreads papers recommended towards publication by the Section Editors;
  • communicates with the Authors of approved manuscripts on issues of presentation;
  • creates the typesetting and artwork of the volume, and works with the printer.
ASSOCIATE EDITOR
  • works directly with the Executive Director and with the authors;
  • determines the author’s credentials and the quality of the manuscript proposed for publication;
  • establishes and coordinates a group of reviewers (whose names are kept confidential), who will evaluate each paper and make recommendations towards publication, revision, and/or rejection;
  • communicates with the reviewers and authors of manuscripts for specifics;
  • upon the recommendation of the reviewers, the Section Editor may decline the opportunity to publish, request a third-party evaluation, request additional revision by the author, or accept the manuscript as it is;
  • approves qualified manuscripts and recommends them towards publication; and
  • may occasionally write an introduction to the manuscript and/or editorial review.

However, requests for permission to reprint an article into another publication is granted only six months after the release of the proceedings of the Harvard Square Symposium®, on the condition that the new publisher indicates that the article was originally published in Harvard Square Symposium®.
