BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
Marian Gh. Simion, Chair
Dr. Marian Gh. Simion is an internationally recognized scholar with interdisciplinary expertise on global affairs and religion. As a consultant he offers his services to national, transnational, and international entities, in developing strategies for international security, conflict transformation and conflict resolution, religious nationalism, containment of terrorism, irregular warfare, global politics, and various related areas. Dr. Simion lectures around the world as an academic and consultant at various academic conferences, round tables and summits; most recently in China, Germany, Jamaica, Korea, Romania, Syria, UK, USA, and others. For the past seven years he had been teaching peace studies at Boston College and Hellenic College, while at Harvard Divinity School he supervises graduate students working on field education topics related to religion in the public life. For the past 11 years Dr. Simion held the position of Assistant Director of the Boston Theological Institute, where he founded the BTI Magazine. He holds a PhD in public and international affairs from Northeastern University in Boston, and is the author, co-author and editor of seven books and of more than 50 book chapters, journal articles, expert papers, editorials, etc. Dr. Simion is a member of prestigious associations and think-thanks such as US Association for the Club of Rome, American Academy of Religion, American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Political Science Association, and others.

Rev. Raymond G. Helmick, Secretary
Raymond G. Helmick, S.J., Professor of Conflict Resolution, Department of Theology, Boston College, has worked extensively in mediation. He has been involved in Northern Ireland since 1972, with the Kurds of Iraq since 1973, with the Lebanese factions since 1982, with Israelis and Palestinians since 1985, with the Kurds of Turkey since 1992, and with the various Balkan countries since1995. He mediated negotiations between the IRA Army Council andthe Northern Ireland Office for six weeks during the hunger strike of 1981. Father Helmick also was invited to the White House for the 1993 signing of the peace accord between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization. He joined the Reverend Jesse Jackson in his 1999 mission to Belgrade, then to Lebanon in 2006.

Mugur A. Roz, Treasurer
Mugur A. Roz, MD, PhD has over fifteen years of experience in various fields of Medicine and Information Technology. He serves as Chief Information Officer at Boston Theological Institute and at Hellenic College/ Holy Cross. Before joining Hellenic College / Holy Cross, he has studied, taught and conducted research at several other institutions of higher education, including Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, "Karl Ruprecht" University (Heidelberg, Germany), University of Copenhagen (Copenhagen, Denmark) etc. Dr. Roz is the author of five books and more than 50 articles on various topics on medicine and information technology, as well as science and religion.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Denise E. Simion 
Denise Simion is the Executive Director and has been with IPSEC since its founding in 2007. She graduated in May 2011 from Harvard University receiving a Masters of Liberal Arts in Management with a Nonprofit Administration concentration. She is a recipient of the Harold V. Langlois Outstanding Scholar Award. (This award is given to an HES graduate student in the management program who has “demonstrated exceptional academic accomplishment and promise as a manager.”) In addition she received the Dean’s List Academic Achievement Award. She is currently conducting research regarding the Orthodox Church’s organizational challenges in North America by using Edward T. Hall’s theory of high/low context cultures and Geert Hofstede’s research on cultural and national dimensions. The expectation of this research will be to articulate the challenges facing the Church, provide understanding of the various cultural viewpoints, assist in developing solutions, and be used in facilitating the communication process. Denise comes with more than fifteen years experience working in for-profit corporations in the financial and technology sectors. During this time she worked in various functions and gained skills in advertising, human resources, marketing research, and systems development. In the 1990s she worked at Fidelity Investments in the Corporate and the Defined-Benefit Pension divisions where she specialized in Human Resources and then transitioned into systems development. From 1999 into 2007 she was at The MathWorks, Inc. in Software Quality Assurance for their business systems development group. During her tenure she worked on various systems development projects primarily with the financial and customer service programs as well as developing and implementing best practices into the IT process. She received a Bachelors of Science in Management from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1992.
